Mini Market Me

Beautiful illustrations by Annelie Carlström on a wonderful pack of cards. Oh if I had money to spend Minimarket could make me a very happy girl. Annelie Carlström for Minimarket if you have money (unlike me) these will be given out as gifts for customers that purchase anything from their spring collection.

Just because...

I am a busy lady, so do not have the time at the moment to produce a 'fashio collage' or an informative post, however I find you readers to be very precious so to tide you over here are a few of my favourite images.

Image: Garance Dore

Now in my foolishness I have only just realised that you can read Garance Dore in English. This foolishness is coupled with the fact that I'm not only an occasional "reader" (or up until now "viewer"), I have actually been subscribed to the French version for many months (for the beautiful illustrations and photography). So for anyone else out there who has yet to discover the English version or even the blog itself I highly recommend it! The writing is good too!

Just for you..Revealed

TV may not be universal, yet with the tool of YouTube the possibilities are endless (and I am very grateful to the upload-ies)! For example the recent CNN coverage of Carine Roitfeld during Fashion Weeks. Aired on Wednesday 18th for those lucky US viewers but for the rest of us, the Internet has once again shown its true glorious uses! Enjoy!

A Quick One: Things to Make and Do

These are a few images taken after creating essential items for hair accessories. After being inspired by an image from (the ever wonderful) Material Girl that was tacked to my wall, myself and Emily from betweenpeaceandhappiness decided to create our own hair (not accessories) masterpieces. The idea is simple, creating hair pieces from folded paper/origami and pom poms (inspired by the head pieces from Blow PR company). We chose to create butterflies in a set of three colours. These images show the mess from the aftermath and the origami butterflies before they were applied to hair pins.

My Apologies

Photobucket

My apologies as this week I have been very over worked unable to post and keep up with the fabulous shows taking place in Paris or even reporting back about my favourites from my own countries fashion week, London Fashion Week. This is very bad of me as I am too a person that likes post(s)!

Above are a few designers work from London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. A different designer per letter and more information bellow:

1. Charles Anastase (Fall 09, Ready-to-wear, London) Recently whenever I see anything I like in a magazine and look at the credits, this name has often been there. Lots of beautiful clothing in this 'fairytale' collection and styled, I feel, in an interesting bohemian way.

2.Ann Sofie Back (Fall 09, Ready-to-wear, London)I have to admit I had only heard of this designers name from memory of magazine pages and was unaware of her creations. This collection had an unusual and unhuman feel with models wearing contact lenses to change their pupils to white. The models for this reason looked as if possessed and once coupled with white faces the effect looks striking. This effect was carried through to the designs with a feeling of witchcraft (braiding, feathers, texture and shapes that are provocative of cobwebs). I really liked this collection for its drama and although on the catwalk the collection seemed dramatic, I feel that many of the pieces could look amazing in everyday life.

3. Balenciaga (Fall 09, Ready-to-wear, Paris)This was an interesting collection that I felt was based upon classical and Parisian style which was very beautiful however not suited for my own personal style. There were a few pieces that I did enjoy (The two images featured above) that appeal to me due to the pastel girlishness and decadent layering and draping.

4. John Galliano (Fall 09, Ready-to-wear, Paris) However unusual this must be I am not usually a a fan of Galliano's designs. Yes, rather odd for a fashion student studying in London. My reasoning is that I often find his work to be overly dramatic, a bit too much on the side of drag queen (not that it would usually be a problem but for my personal style I don't find it appealing). This collection however is more toned down in pallet and with a dramatic edge that I can find appealing. I can the collection transforming itself wonderfully to an amazing editorial and to me expresses a Tim Walker character.

5. Nathan Jenden (Fall 09, Ready-to-wear, London) This collection I am a bit stuck in the middle on my decision. I think it is the styling of some of the garments, with chokers really not doing it for me. A few items in the collection entitled 'Frostbite' do deliver however with Christopher Kane (Spring/Summer 09) style dresses mixed with Rodarte (Fall 09) textures. Although this collection doesn't live up to my love of the Spring/Summer Christopher Kane, or Rodarte (in general) so for that reason this collection falls a bit flat.

Here are just a few pages from the fanzine I have created over the past 3 days (yes 3 days to create a 30 spread fanzine! What can I say, our tutors are pissed at us so shortened the deadline from a month to 3 days). The fanzine in based on the short novel 'Metamorphosis' and was rather fun and intresting to illustrate in this way. I hope you enjoy the rewards of my late nights (and early mornings). Also dont try and read them to create a story as these pages dont run after each other and pages are missing.
